Junior Nick Yozamp, a biology major in Arts & Sciences, advanced to the finals of the annual Jeopardy! college championship. He joins three other WUSTL students who have found success on Jeopardy! shows, quarterfinalist Ericka Hayes in 1993, semifinalist Arianna Haut in 2002 and second runner-up Jayanth Iyengar in 2006.

Chancellor addresses WUSTL community on financial strengths

Exposure to severe stress early in life increases the risk of alcohol and drug addiction. Yet surprisingly, some adults sexually abused as children — and therefore at high risk for alcohol problems — carry gene variants that protect them from heavy drinking and its effects, according to research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis led by Elliot C. Nelson, M.D.

Haiti relief efforts get a hand from the WUSTL community

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Edward J. Larson will present “From Dayton to Dover: A Brief History of the Evolution Teaching Controversy in the U.S.” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in Louderman Hall, Room 458. The Assembly Series program is the Thomas S. Hall Lecture.
